About the Program

The Accounting/Bookkeeping series will provide you with an understanding of the complete accounting cycle. Successful Graduates of this program may be Certified as Professional Bookkeepers by the American Institute of Professional Bookkeepers (AIPB).

Students will learn to:
• Analyze, classify, and record business transactions
• Enter information manually or using QuickBooks
• Prepare tax forms and financial statements

? When are the classes and how are they taught?

The Accounting & Bookkeeping classes run every semester, and are offered morning, evening, and on Saturday. Online course sections for this program are also available. Please see the schedule for details regarding dates, times, location, prerequisites and the required book.

The courses in this program are seminar-type, hands-on classes. In most classes you will be working on assignments given by the instructor.

? What courses are included in the full series?

The Accounting/Bookkeeping Series runs for a total of 76 Hours, and includes the following sections:

ACNT-1002: Accounting (48 hrs)
ACNT-1010: Computerized Accounting (QuickBooks) (28 hrs)

? How does the online class work?

The online section for Accounting/Bookkeeping Series uses Blackboard, with students logging in via their ACCeID.

All materials will be made available online, with the exception of the required textbook. Real-time, online meetings and discussions are scheduled in accordance to the students' and instructor's availability. These meetings are recorded and available for the duration of the class. They are not mandatory but encouraged. Students must have their own computer with a working copy of QuickBooks Pro or Premier (version 2010 or higher).

Notice: The Quickbooks course is designed for the desktop version in Microsoft Windows format. Neither the Online, or Apple versions are supported by the class material.

I recently started a new job that entailed quite a bit of Accounting. Although I have a Business Administration degree, I didn't have much accounting experience, so I decided that I needed to take a course at ACC. My employer was willing to pay for me to take an accounting class, but I would have had to pay for the class up front and submit receive a passing grade before being reimbursed. While looking through the accounting courses for the semester I realized it would be too difficult for me to take a full semester with homework and projects due on a regular basis, as my elderly mother recently move in with me and I am caring for her.

Since I had taken Continuing Education courses from ACC before, and had a good experience in doing so, I decided to see what they had to offer.

After reading through the Accounting & Bookkeeping Series, I realized it covered exactly what I needed in order to help me do my job more effectively. Since the series had already started, I decided to take a couple of the individual classes, which were part of the series. From day one, I was impressed with not only the class, but the instructor, Mr. Hussain as well. He is relentless in making sure that you have a clear understanding of all of the material. He offers a lot of his time to make sure that you receive your moneys' worth.

I have since began the series and is almost at the end of the term, with Mr. Hussain. I am actually looking forward to my second year into my job. I am confident that the training has prepared me to do my job better. I recommend anyone who is looking to learn accounting in a short period of time to take this course.
